something to write about

shang-pots-make-a-man-out-of-you-close-up-mulan

I woke up this morning with a brain filled with nothingness, and consequently, blank pages. Then I started working out and put on some guy music. (My idea of guy music consists of bands guys have introduced to me, including, but not limited to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Guns N’ Roses, and Tech N9ne.) And it hit me. If I could go back in time and answer the little kid question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I would say, “When I grow up, I want to be a man.”

Now, I’m not talking about changing physically. I know “man” is actually an impossible answer. “Man” is not a career. What I’m saying is, aside from what a person does for a living, being a man is really cool. I’m not trying to rag on my own gender, but think about it. Men are smarter, funnier, faster, and a whole bunch of other things I’m probably one of the few women who think so. I like being a woman, but there is something about being physically stronger, chiller, and let’s not forget simpler, that is so attractive. So much so being a man is a way of life in my opinion. It’s bigger than any job, career path, amount of money you can make, position of power you can be in, or how many deer you shot in one day.

It’s not so much about what I would do when I grow up; it’s about no matter what I’m doing, I wish I could be a man while doing it. Just because.

  1. You said “rag on my own gender” I love a good menstruation pun. Thanks to Bruce Jenner, we actually have an opening in the man department if you want to put in for a transfer. Although you make a pretty cool woman too so don’t sell yourself short.
